Company E, Ball's Company - 19th Virginia Cavalry

Captain James W. Ball

Was Company E, 3rd Virginia State Line. Joined the 19th Virginia Cavalry on March 13, 1863.

They seem to have been in rough shape as they were reported “Barefoot” on a requisition on October 20, 1863, just days after Bulltown. No requisition for clothing until November of ’63 and even then “30 Jackets” was crossed off. Shirts, socks, and shoes were issued.

The impression for this company will be largely civilian or more worn military “Type 2” Richmond Depot Jackets.
